Over recent years we have organised a spring Forum each year, an event where speakers make short speeches before, and between courses of, an excellent meal. It is a unique opportunity to meet colleagues from across Scotland and discuss big issues in a friendly, convivial and informal setting.
This year’s Forum will be on Thursday evening, the 16th of May. The theme isTransforming teaching, transforming schools: ambition or reality? The venue will again be St George’s School for Girls in Edinburgh where we have enjoyed over recent years the excellent ambience and the delightful food. Doors will open at 5.30 pm for drinks and chat. The presentations will commence at 6.15 pm and the meal at 6.30 pm.
We already have three confirmed speakers, all of whom are well-known in Scottish education and who will add sparkle to a great evening: Ken Greer, Head of Education in Fife, Steven Quinn, Head Teacher at Ardrossan Academy in Ayrshire and Karen MacGregor, Head Teacher at Queensferry PS. We will also have a presentation from school pupils.
We are continuing our approach of offering a special deal on costs. Tickets are £20 each but if you come with a colleague who has not previously attended a SELMAS event, two tickets can be ordered for £30.
Last year we sold out. I am now open for bookings and will be pleased to have your reservations by email. I will confirm reservations and invoice you on receipt of your booking. Book now – contact Alex Wood
